Drywall

When we went to the house, the crew was hanging the last of the drywall.

We spent 3 hours with the builder last night picking out tile, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and fans. We brought home paint samples and carpet samples. Picking the exterior paint color is going to be the challenge.

The builder thinks we should be in the house in 7 weeks if things stay on schedule.

Update July 20

All except the last step on the deck staircase is finished.

The drywallers hung most of the main floor ceiling today. I feel bad for the crew. It was unmercifully hot today. Hope to see some walls tomorrow.

Update: July 19

The drywall was delivered today. I have never seen 12 foot sheets. They are huge. In addition to the drywall, the water has been turned on in the house and the sewer line was connected. Several truckloads of dirt were also dumped on the yard.

The final preliminary electrical work was completed. The builder had the insulation crew finish up a couple of things.

On the outside, the stairs on the deck are almost complete.

The drywalling will begin tomorrow. It will be nice to see the walls.

Insulated

We were told the insulation crew would not be in until Monday. Glen and his brother went out to insulate the garage and there was a crew out working. The whole house is now insulated. That means walls will start next week.

July 15 Update

All the preliminary plumbing and electrical work is finished. Everything passed inspection today. On Monday, they will start installing insulation. Drywall installation will begin either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. Our builder says we are right on track.

The fireplace is in and framed. We finalized our cabinets.

Next week, the inside will start looking like a house!

July 12 Update

I do not have photos to post; however, a great deal has been done in the last couple of days. The deck is up. It still needs stairs, but otherwise it is finished.

The plumber has all the internal plumbing done except they have to move the kitchen plumbing. That will be a quick job.

The heating/cooling crew started their work today.

The electrician got the main floor wired today.

We have met with the cabinet builder twice to go over how we want the cabinets finished. Tomorrow, we will meet with him again to finish out the kitchen.

Things are moving. If all goes well, it should be finished in about 8 weeks.

Siding and Shingles

A whole lot got done the last couple of days. Our builder was out inspecting the framing today and had the crew fix some things so the inside should now be finished. On the outside, the majority of the siding is on the house. They have a bit on the front and a small strip on the back. Most of the roof is now shingled as well. The basement door and the door to the patio have both been installed.

The plumber was supposed to be out today but didn't make it. Hoping he will be there tomorrow.

We now have to finalize our paint colors.
